Confirmed

Everything confirmed about GTA VI.

Release date

Moved from the previously announced 26 May 2026.

Rockstar has announced a date and has never announced an hour. The page therefore counts whole days and says so. It does not count hours, minutes and seconds towards a moment nobody has published, and it does not assume a worldwide midnight unlock.

Editions

Standard Edition

$79.99

The game. Digital, with a physical code-in-box version sold separately.

Ultimate Edition

$99.99

The game plus a named list of in-world vehicles, weapons, businesses and clothing that Rockstar states are exclusive to this edition.

Ultimate Edition Upgrade $20.00 if you start with Standard. Both editions are digital; a physical version exists, but the box holds a download code rather than a disc. US prices. Rockstar and its retailers set prices per region, so what you see on the retailer's page in your country is the one that counts.

The difference

Shown in footage, or announced as playable.

Not the same claim, and most coverage runs them together. Rockstar saying a video was captured in-game is not Rockstar saying you will control it.

  • Airboat country in the Grassrivers wetlands

    Our analysisShown in footage

    In-game footage; player control unconfirmed

Rockstar says the Extended Look is captured in-game on a PlayStation 5. It does not say any of it is under player control.

    Why we say that

The Extended Look is captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.

Rockstar's wording is “captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5”. In-game footage is not the same statement as player-controlled gameplay, and Rockstar does not make the second claim about this video.

  • A Vice City block from the air

    ObservationShown in footage

    Equal parts gameplay and cutscenes

Rockstar's own words for Trailer 2. It never says which shots are which, so no individual moment in it is confirmed as gameplay.

    Why we say that

Trailer 2 is part gameplay and part cutscene, and Rockstar does not say which shots are which.

Rockstar's wording is “captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes”. So roughly half of what you see in that trailer is not gameplay, and no official breakdown says where the line falls.

Official video description, Rockstar Games on YouTube

  • Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos together, with the Vice City skyline behind them

    ConfirmedShown in footage

    Two leads: Jason and Lucia

Rockstar builds its own story summary around both and gives each their own official material. Whether you control both is a separate question.

    Why we say that

Two leads, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, at the centre of Rockstar's own story summary.

Rockstar's wording is “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them… forced to rely on each other”, and its product page sells an “exclusive collection of items threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story”. That establishes two leads. None of the official pages we have read says you play as both, so we do not say it either — the Ultimate Edition's per-character salon services point that way, but pointing that way is not the same as being announced.

  • Riders on a dirt track in Mount Kalaga National Park

    ConfirmedAnnounced as playable

    Vehicles, weapons and apparel

An exclusive collection running across the story, sold as the Ultimate Edition.

    Why we say that

Premium vehicles, weapons and apparel threaded through the story.

Described by Rockstar as an exclusive collection running across Jason and Lucia's story, sold as the Ultimate Edition.

    Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor

Designed by the artist collective FAILE, and open for business only with the Ultimate Edition.

    Why we say that

The Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, designed by the artist collective FAILE.

Rockstar's page states it is “only open for business with the Ultimate Edition” — an announced, enterable business rather than something only glimpsed in a trailer.

  • A character in a styled Leonida interior

    ConfirmedAnnounced as playable

    Sara’s Unisex Salon

Hair for Jason, makeup and nails for Lucia — official confirmation that per-character grooming exists.

    Why we say that

Sara's Unisex Salon, with hair for Jason and makeup and nails for Lucia.

Also stated to be open only with the Ultimate Edition. It is the clearest official confirmation that per-character appearance services exist in the world.

Rockstar Games — Grand Theft Auto VI

  • A driver at the window of a parked car

    ConfirmedAnnounced as playable

    Vehicle customisation

Interiors, rims and donk stylings, named on Rockstar's page as Ultimate Edition content.

    Why we say that

Vehicle customisation covering interiors, rims and donk stylings.

Named on Rockstar's page as Ultimate Edition content. We have not published the business's name because our capture of the page did not include it in full.

Gear

Playing it on what?

Two consoles, one decision. Prices move, so each links to the maker.

Nothing here earns us a commission.

What that means

No affiliate programme is connected. Every link is an ordinary link to the manufacturer or retailer and earns Wanted Wire nothing. Product links, comparisons and specifications do not depend on that ever changing.

Corrections we have made
  • 18 Sept 2026

Published a price. An earlier version of this page said the price was unverified because Rockstar's support pages would not load. We have since read $79.99 and $99.99 from the PlayStation, Xbox and Rockstar storefronts themselves, with the edition each price belongs to captured alongside it.

  • 18 Sept 2026

Answered three of our own open questions from the retailers' listings: pre-load begins 12 November, a physical code-in-box version exists, and digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+. Rockstar still has not announced an unlock hour.

  • 18 Sept 2026

Removed the Rockstar press screenshots that this page previously displayed. They are authentic files from Rockstar's official media pack, but we have not established permission to reproduce them on a site that also sells gear, so they are no longer published here. The links to Rockstar's own pages remain.

  • 18 Sept 2026

Stopped stating a price. An earlier draft of this hub carried no price at all, and we are keeping it that way until we have read one from a primary source rather than from coverage.

  • 6 Nov 2025

The release date on this hub changed from May 26, 2026 to November 19, 2026 when Rockstar announced the move. The superseded date is kept in the history below rather than deleted.

Questions we get asked
Is there a PC version?

Not announced. Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Coverage speculating about a later PC release is speculation, and it is not on this page.

What time does it unlock on November 19?

Rockstar has not said. Its own store does say pre-load begins 12 November 2026, so the download can be ready in advance — but there is no announced unlock hour, which is why this page counts days and not hours.

What do I get for pre-ordering?

The Vintage Vice City Pack, if you order before 20 November. Digital storefronts add a free month of GTA+, and pre-load opens on 12 November. All three are stated on Rockstar's own store page.

Is there a disc version?

There is a physical version, but Rockstar states the box contains a download code rather than the game on disc. If you were buying physical to avoid a large download, it will not help.

Why are there no screenshots on this page?

Rockstar's media pack is freely downloadable, but availability is not permission. Rockstar's fan policy covers non-commercial use, and this site runs a gear catalogue. Until Take-Two answers our specific questions, we link to Rockstar's own pages and embed its own videos rather than reproducing its files.

Is Wanted Wire connected to Rockstar?

No. Wanted Wire is an independent fan publication with no affiliation with, endorsement from, or connection to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

Major unanswered questions
  • What hour does it unlock on 19 November?

Pre-load starts on the 12th, but no storefront or announcement names the unlock time, so no launch-night guide can be written yet.

  • Is a PC version planned at all?

Silence is not a denial, but it is also not an announcement, so we record it as unknown.

  • How large is the install?

Pre-load opens on 12 November and nobody has published a download size to clear space for.

  • What happens to GTA Online?

Nothing official connects the existing online game to this release.
